ARENA — Advanced Design & Technology Lab opens in 2022 to host R&D in robotic manufacturing, additive manufacturing and cyber-physical interaction systems in the areas of architecture, construction and product design. Currently ARENA has three robotic arms installed — a Kuka KR120 dedicated to 3D concrete printing (3DCP), equipped with a continuous mortar extrusion system with real time data monitoring; a Kuka KR180 equipped with a pellet extrusion system with continuous feeding, an equipment from IPC and DONE Lab – Advanced Manufacturing of Products and Tools; and a Kuka KR10 to explore lightweight manufacturing tools and cyber-physical interaction systems. The robots are also equipped with tools for milling, hot wire cutting and 3D printing in ceramics, biopolymers and earth-based materials.
