HomeR&dFORMA – Fabrication Oriented for Resilience and Modular Architecture

FORMA – Fabrication Oriented for Resilience and Modular Architecture

FORMA – Fabrication Oriented for Resilience and Modular Architecture project aims to intetgrate the advantages of Additive Manufacturing for urban resilience and sustainability, as well as its contribution to future smart cities. The ability to rapidly produce customized and complex structures offers significant benefits in addressing the dynamic needs of urban populations, particularly in response to emergencies and infrastructure development. The precision and efficiency of AM reduce material waste and construction time, aligning with environmental goals by minimizing the ecological footprint generated.

Its strategic approach addresses the objectives and priority domains identified in the RIS3 Norte, with a direct impact on advanced industrialization, creativity applied to architecture, and the transition toward sustainable and digital models. By integrating architecture, design, and digital fabrication in the creation of modular solutions, and by promoting sustainable construction and the valorization of built heritage, the project aligns with the priority domain of “Creativity, Fashion, and Habitats,” particularly regarding the “Construction Business Base” and “Building Materials.” Innovation in the AEC sector will contribute to adopting more sustainable construction processes, integrating recyclable and efficient materials, reducing environmental impact, and promoting energy efficiency.

In summary, the FORMA project will contribute to:

. Generating leading scientific knowledge in the field of sustainable digital construction;

. Promoting innovation and competitiveness in the sector, through scalable and sustainable modular solutions;

. Reducing the environmental impact of construction, fostering circular practices;

. Transferring technology and knowledge to the productive sector, encouraging new construction models.
